Bhutan Insights Journal believes in empowering upcoming researchers as the foundation of progress. BIJ is thus committed to handholding and supporting the novice and early researchers. In the first of its series, the “Walk-in Talk: The Fundamentals of Research” was organised on 15 May 2025 as an open and practical session for prospective Master’s by Research and PhD students. The session was conducted with the following primary objectives:
- To provide clarity on the research journey and expectations
- To provide insights into admission processes and academic integrity
- To guide towards building the thesis proposal
- To provide direct advice from experienced Bhutanese academics.
The session was a truly engaging and enriching experience as it unpacked the differences between research and coursework, explored the real challenges behind writing proposals, provided insights into securing scholarships, and navigating the admissions process. Additionally, the questions, insights, and curiosity from the participants made the conversation come alive.
The session offered guidance, clarity, and encouragement to both aspiring and early-career researchers. Participants stated that this was more than just a workshop. They said that the session shared space of support, reflection, and momentum, which was believed as a step toward the kind of research culture Bhutan Insights is committed to building.
The session was moderated by Pema Chentsho with Dr. Karma Tenzin, Dr.Deki Choden and Dr.Phuntsho Wangdi as panellists. As the official host and publisher of the BIJ, EduPlus Training Institute acknowledges the contribution of the experts and participants in making the inaugural walk-in-talk a resounding success.
