Chador Wangmo is an accomplished Bhutanese author, entrepreneur, and education advocate known for her remarkable contributions to promoting literacy culture across the Himalayan region. With a background as a teacher of English literature, she transformed her passion for education into community-driven literacy initiatives through writing, publishing, and mentorship. Over the years, she has become one of Bhutan’s prolific authors, having written more than twenty books that include children’s novelettes, novels, and poetry. Her works beautifully intertwine Bhutanese values with universal themes of compassion, resilience, and hope. Many of her books have transcended borders, being translated into Hindi, Nepali, Bangla, Assamese, Sinhala, and Khmer, reflecting her growing influence across South Asia.

As the founder of MizaBooks in Thimphu, Chador has created a vibrant space that nurtures young readers and emerging writers. Chador’s literary and educational influence has earned her invitations to represent Bhutan at prestigious festivals, including Mountain Echoes, Dhaka, Goa and Brahmaputra, FOSWAL, Arunachal, and Nepal literature festivals. Her commitment to the written word and education has been recognised with the SAARC Literature Award (2023) and the Vidhyavashaspati Honorary Doctorate (2017). 

She continues to inspire through motivational talks, reading advocacy, and collaborations with organisations such as Save the Children, Read Bhutan, and the Bhutan Foundation, empowering educators, parents, and children to embrace literary art as a path to self-awareness, creativity and knowledge. At the EduPlus Training Institute, Chador contributes to professional development, facilitation of trainings and seminars and youth capacity-building programs. Through this role, she helps bridge literature, learning, leadership and empowering educators and learners to explore creativity as a foundation for lifelong growth.
